The Department of Pathology, Heersink School of Medicine, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is inviting applications from qualified candidates at any rank the for one full- time, open tenure earning positions to strengthen our research programs across the following broad areas:
Cardiovascular and Cardiometabolic Disease, Cancer, Neurodegeneration, Infectious disease and Immunity

The Department of Pathology with >90 full time faculty, including >35 research intensive faculty, has a major commitment to clinical care, research and education ranking in the top 12 for Pathology Departments in 2025 in the US, by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. Research within the department focuses on understanding the molecular basis underlying a wide range of diverse disease processes, identifying new therapeutic targets, and developing new treatments for patients.
Candidates must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. in relevant disciplines. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of originality and productivity in research and scholarly activity including previous and current significant extramural funding as principal investigator. Candidates should also have an interest in graduate and/or medical education.
