In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption. Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19. Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.
The Division of Supportive and Acute Care Services in the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center seeks to recruit an exceptional academic physician and leader to serve as the Chief of the Supportive Care Service. The Division of Supportive and Acute Care services is comprised of four services including General Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Supportive Care and Urgent Care that support patients across the cancer continuum.
The new Service Chief will report to the Head of the Division of Supportive and Acute Care Services and will have programmatic oversight and responsibility for the Service and faculty. The Service Chief will work to shape the strategic and programmatic priorities for the Service. S/he will oversee the clinical operations, talent acquisition and retention, research, philanthropy, professional development, mentorship, and teaching.
The Supportive Care Service:
The Supportive Care Service is currently comprised of 16 physicians, 25 advanced practice providers, a pharmacist, social worker, and chaplain. Its members provide specialized medical care for persons living with cancer and their caregivers in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The team is focused on providing relief from the symptoms of cancer and stress of the illness and improving quality of life for both the patient and family. The Supportive Care Service faculty partner with and support other physicians in the Department of Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, Neurology and work especially closely with the Anesthesia Pain Service and the Psychosocial Oncology Service as well as with colleagues from Nursing and Social Work. Faculty have expertise in management of patients with multiple complex problems and those who are close to end of life. The service sponsors an ACGME-accredited fellowship program with six new fellows each year and an advanced NP fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Nursing with three fellows each year.
The Supportive Care team conducts research around the provision of primary palliative care, the integration of palliative care with emergency and intensive care, the impact of including patient values in the electronic medical record, and culturally tailored palliative care delivery. Faculty have received funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the National Palliative Care Research Center, and the Cambia Health Foundation.
Qualified candidates should be physicians with board-certification in hospice and palliative medicine and:
- National recognition as a palliative care program leader, educator, and/or a funded program of clinical, translational, or population science research.
- Extensive clinical expertise in supportive oncology, pain management, and hospice and palliative medicine.
- Eligible for licensure in New York State and New Jersey.

Physician compensation is based on multiple variables. This range represents annual salary only and does not include supplemental performance-based pay or any one-time payments that eligible candidates may be offered at the time of hire.
