Akron Children's Hospital Pediatrics (ACHP) brings pediatric primary care for babies, children and teens to many northeast Ohio communities through our 35+ pediatric offices. Join our established Ashland practice of 2 pediatricians and 3 experienced nurse practitioners as the practice continues to grow. This is an outpatient opportunity that partners with University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center to provide well newborn nursery coverage which is shared among providers. The average number of babies in the nursery is 3-5 per week and all have chosen Akron Children's as their PCP. After-hours call and Saturday office hours are also shared between providers. Newborn rounds and call are week at a time and are approximately 1:4 with the half day Saturday office hours occurring in the same week. Calls only reach the physician after being screened by our excellent after-hours nurse triage phone line which handles more than 90% of the calls.
 
This position is a 501(c)(3) site which qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the Federal government.
 
Our offices follow standard hospital-based policies, while retaining the local culture of each practice. Our physicians enjoy the use of EPIC as a system-wide integrated electronic health record. Our primary care offices are all PCMH certified. The Patient-Centered Medical Home is a model of care that puts patients at the forefront of care. PCMHs build better relationships between people and their clinical care teams. Research shows that they improve quality, the patient experience and staff satisfaction, while reducing health care costs.

The pace of life is less stressful l than many large cities and there are plenty of opportunities for enjoyment outside of work. The Mohican State Park is one of the region's most beautiful recreation areas where you can enjoy the outdoors through many venues including but not limited to, camping, canoeing, and horseback riding. The large Amish population in the area also gives Ashland and the region a unique point of interaction with a simpler time. There are many great communities within an easy commute to the Ashland office location.
Ashland city school system offers excellent academic experiences and modern facilities. A new elementary and middle school are currently under construction and are scheduled to open fall of 2015. There are also two private schools in Ashland as well as Ashland University, a private liberal arts university.
