Job Summary
Supports clinical research as coordinator for multiple concurrent research studies and clinical trials within inpatient care units and outpatient care. Manages and supervises research staff. Decides time allocation to optimize support given to multiple studies with competing demands.Coordinators work with a variety of departments and patient populations. Upcoming projects include cardiology, sleep medicine, otolaryngology, maternal fetal medicine and pain medicine.
Job Duties
- Responsible for coordinating and implementing clinical research studies.
- Manages and provides supervision of research staff.
- Responsible for subject recruitment, maintaining regulatory documentation, high quality data collection and serving as liaison between the Clinical Trials Office, Principal Investigators, sponsors, patient care providers and research subjects.
- Prepares submissions for Institutional Research Review Board consideration as well as providing oversight for all reporting obligations.
- Participates in contract negotiations by helping to evaluate resources required and assists in developing research budgets.
- Develops and implements subject recruitment plans including screening for eligibility by reviewing the medical records, interviews potential subjects and collaborates with physicians to assess appropriateness for entering clinical protocols.
- Recruits, screens, and enrolls patients into clinical trials.
- Develops study-specific training and procedures to orient ancillary clinic and hospital patient care staff about research interventions and specific research protocols and insures appropriate billing charge documents are submitted for study related activities.
- Coordinates the services of ancillary departments to ensure appropriate procedures are in place for conducting the research study.
- Monitors lab results and reports all findings to the principal investigator immediately.
- Assures that the principal investigator is informed of all relevant patient care issues and activities within the research study.
- Monitors subject visits through scheduling and tracking and assists in the maintenance of source documents for clinical trials.
- Monitors hospitalized research patients for compliance with study protocol.
- Supports nursing staff by collaborating with them to incorporate the details of the research protocol into the patient's plan of care.
- Collaborates, as needed, with research personnel at other sites to coordinate multi-center protocols.
- Serves as a resource for and provides education to subjects and family related to specific research protocols and its potential risks and benefits and reporting of health events.
- Functions as liaison between Principal Investigator and the study sponsor for adapting a multi-center protocol study to specific local environment.
- Serves in the role of site representative during sponsor initiated study audits.

Education
Graduate from Specialty Training Program- (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Nursing (Preferred)
