Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Genetic Counselor.

The Early Detection and Prevention Center for Pancreatic Cancer Center is seeking an experienced Genetic Counselor to join The NYU Pancreatic Cancer Center, a designated National Pancreas Foundation Center of Excellence. Our vision is to transform the prevention, early detection, and treatment of pancreatic cancer. To do this, the center is building upon its established model of multidisciplinary approach to pancreatic cancer care, including clinicians, basic researchers, and patients to create an innovative environment that accelerates new approaches to the early detection of the disease and advances cutting edge clinical trials. We are looking for a vision-driven, dynamic genetic counselor who can work as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team including specialists in surgery, medical oncology, and gastroenterology in the care of patients with or at risk for pancreatic malignancies and. This position will also require significant interaction with clinical/translational research coordinators, and interest/experience in clinical and academic research.
Provides clinical care including genetic counseling and coordination of genetic testing within the Pancreatic Cancer Center and Early Detection and Prevention Center for patients with pancreatic cancer, and patients at high risk
Participates in educational activities of the PCC/EDPC including training of medical students, residents, fellows, and genetic counselors
Collaborates on development and implementation of multidisciplinary clinical research initiatives
Participates in research meetings, internal seminars, and national meetings to present and publish research
Promotes innovative approaches to support and ensure the success of the clinical and academic missions of the PCC/EDPC
Works with the PCC/EDPC team to implement effective strategic plans to measure, assess, and improve quality of care and services provided to patients.
Assists with background research and writing for protocols, projects, or grant applications as needed
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Master's Degree in genetic counseling from an accredited program. Board certification or eligibility for board certification as a genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various professionals.
Preferred Qualifications: -Cancer genetic counseling experience -Clinical research experience including presentations/publications -Experience working with multicultural audiences -Excellent attention to detail, excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, and work well independently within a multidisciplinary environment
