The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) is seeking an experienced individual to lead the clinical trial management teams within the Clinical Trials Office (CTO). The Assistant Director of Trial Management will work collaboratively with the VICC CTO leadership team including the Director for Clinical Research Administration, the Chief of Clinical Trials and the CTO Medical Director to ensure the successful conduct of clinical trials across VICC. The Assistant Director of Trial Management will oversee the Clinical Trials Managers, the Quality & Education Team and the Patient Recruitment Team. This position will provide oversight and training for an increasingly large and complex clinical trials operation at the VICC and serve as a key liaison with the VICC Disease Team Leaders in fulfilling the clinical research mission of VICC.
Current areas of responsibility include portfolio management, process improvement, coordination of disease team operations. This position will:
Utilize leadership skills to provide oversight and management to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and effective conduct of the clinical trials within the VICC portfolio.
Hire staff and have responsibility for delegating tasks, monitoring workloads, and evaluating job performance.
Establish, implement, and evolve operational standards and monitor quality and progress of process improvement and program growth.
Foster employee engagement and retention via creation of career ladders, continuing education and professional development, and recognition of high performing individuals.
Interface with other departments, leaders across the organization and other partners in the administration of the program to identify and define any logistics, action items or information needed to maintain operations.
Design and develop internal Disease Team processes that NCI guideline requirements including stage one of the Protocol Review and Monitoring System review.
Conduct complex and confidential meetings with pharmaceutical partners.
Supervise clinical trial managers to align their practices with the needs of each disease team portfolio, while standardizing business practices across teams to aid in reporting and compliance guidelines.
Work with Disease Team Leaders and CTO Leadership to establish accrual/financial targets and disease team metrics; regularly provide updates on Disease Team performance
Collaborate with Disease Team Leaders and Clinical Trial Managers to develop and maintain the disease-specific clinical trial pipeline strategy.
Oversee the Clinical Research Implementation Committee to ensure the timely opening of clinical trials.
Supervise the Patient Recruitment Team and assist in the development of recruitment goals; portfolio growth strategies; and timeline management procedures (including time to open clinical trials and timeline from consent to study registration) across the Disease Teams.
Oversee the CTO Quality & Education Team to ensure that investigators and CTO Leadership have the tools necessary to conduct clinical trials in a safe and patient-centric manner.
Work with the Manager of Quality & Education and CTO leadership to identify opportunities and set priorities for operational improvements, provide timely access to investigator and staff education resources, develop study management tools, and oversee the ongoing implementation of best practices across the research enterprise.
Research, gather, organize, and summarize data for evaluating performance of program or other program operations.
Develop, evaluate, recommend, and implement procedures for performance improvement and quality control.
Ensure accountability in clinical research practices, ALCOAC principles, and ICH-GCP.
Review SOPs/guidelines, audit reports, incident reports, while initiating corrective and preventive action to ensure best practice.
