The Biobank Research Technologist performs a primary research role in the Nemours Biobank and Specimen Processing Core laboratory and conducts various specimen processing for both internally and externally funded projects of interest to the laboratory. Performs a range of experiments and data collection under the direction of Lab Head or Research Associate. Assists with maintenance and operations in the laboratory. Maintains both handwritten and computerized records of work performed. Assists in implementation of new laboratory protocols and processes.
Executes experiments pertinent to the aims of the overall research project in the laboratory
Responsible for processing various biological specimens, following laboratory protocols
Understands the use of equipment within the laboratory
Performs experimental manipulation either alone or in collaboration with other technical staff within the laboratory
Evaluates experimental results
Analyzes data collected from a number of instruments available within the laboratory including microscopes, video recorders, scintillation counters, and spectrophotometers
Data analysis including statistics and graphing are performed through computer software packages or by hand, if necessary
Degree in biological or medical related science required
One to three years experience working in a biomedical research laboratory with at least one year of direct tissue/cell primary culture experience and DNA/RNA processing experience
